Mount Masada in the Judean Desert towers above the Dead Sea and is one of Israel's major tourist attractions.
Once the desert retreat of King Herod who built a magnificent palace on its promontory, it became the last refuge for Jewish rebels during the Roman conquest of Israel and fell in the year 73 AD.
During our tour at the top of the mount we enter an ancient world, steeped in history. As we wander around the excavated and restored ruins, we begin to see how people lived there, see the amazing water system that allowed survival for so long, the storerooms for food, where some ancient palm seeds were found and brought back to life .... but wait to hear the stories as you follow your guide and relive the legends.
